The international EthiSource team is led by Managing Director, Bernadette O’Farrell, and is based in the UK, India, Nepal and Spain. 

Bernadette O‘Farrell


Bernadette is an experienced buyer, with over 15 years of international buying, sourcing, product development and retail experience. She is recognised in the industry for her perseverance, knowledge and ability to source reliable suppliers. Through her work with the Indian Garden Company, Bernadette has extensive experience with product development and has brought to market numerous artisan handmade goods, produced with rigorous ethical and sustainable practices. Known for her excellent taste and specialist knowledge, Bernadette can analyse data and forecast trends for what will sell. She’s an expert at developing products with suppliers, as well as being on the lookout for the next key trend. She carefully balances fashion with classic lines, creating products with longevity.

In her many years of buying and sourcing in India, Nepal, and Bali, Bernadette has worked with a wide range of suppliers – from small family-run handicraft units to large factories – on behalf of clients based in the UK, USA, Europe, Australia, and the Middle East. Bernadette has sourced and bought for businesses of all sizes, from start-ups through to large international brands.

 Bernadette has extensive experience in women’s wear, out-door living and home items and supporting multi-product retailers across all platforms, including online, retail and wholesale. She specialises in ethical fashion and sourcing sustainable supply chains and has a keen interest in Fairtrade, organic and eco-fabrics, social audits and standards. She is passionate about traditional artisanal skills and keeping the talent of these master craftsman alive through Fair Trade initiatives. 


For over a decade, Bernadette and Sara Altman have worked together to provide creative strategies for branding, packaging and marketing. 

Sara Altman


Sara is an experienced creative strategist with a strong background in branding, design for print, digital marketing and marketing strategy. She trained at a top 100 agency and has over 25 years’ experience working with a huge array of international brands including Marks & Spencer, Waitrose, Sainsbury’s, Louis Vuitton Moët Hennessy Group, Lotus, Gucci, Hyundai, Holmes Place, Pioneer, Pfizer, Schwarz Pharma, Sage, The National Trust, Pacha Merchandise, Amante Ibiza and Ocean Beach Club Ibiza to name just a few.

Sara’s magic is taking ideas and making them a reality. She creates powerful concepts to position your branding, design and marketing strategy for environmentally and socially conscious audiences while expanding your reach by captivating and steering others towards more ethical choices. Whether you need a logo for your new project, a complete marketing strategy or a superb UI/UX with fully integrated systems for your online sales, there isn’t much she can’t help you achieve. She delivers exceptional creative with strong strategy. 

Sara is backed up by a strong team including an award-winning marketeer for broadcast projects, a fully Google-authorised specialist with advanced skills in digital and systems programming, and a social marketing expert on-hand for a full 360° agency experience.

Carolyne Muani


Carolyne carries a Master’s degree in Fashion Management from NIFT, India. She is experienced at merchandising and production for various brands like Marco Polo, ESPRIT, George, Debenhams, NEXT, Paul Smith. Carolyne is experienced at working with Indian garment production houses and premium online retails like 


For the last 7 years, Carolyne has worked with fine knitwear manufacturers in Nepal. Carolyne is familiar with fully automatic computerised knitting machines and has overseen handloom productions. Carolyne’s specialty is producing premium grade cashmere apparel, accessories and gifts. She has extensive experience in sourcing eco-friendly and responsibly produced, fine cashmere yarn. 


Carolyne oversees our cashmere production from Nepal and quality checks, for various clients across Europe, South Africa, USA, Great Britain, Australia and India.  Carolyne’s expertise is supplemented by a team of designers, knitwear technicians, knitters, weavers and a finishing team. Each team member carries more than 15 years of experience in fine cashmere production.

Sourabh Saxena

SOurcing & design

Sourabh has a Master's in fashion from the Domus Academy in Milan. He is extremely experienced in designing and developing collections and provides complete sourcing solutions from product concepts to production development. 


Sourabh creates a strong backbone to any brand, sourcing ethically and complex productions. He has never-ending enthusiasm when it comes to delivering exciting new ideas, and his knowledge and inline implementation of fashion and textiles have helped designers and retailers around the world. Sourabh specialises in designing and sourcing handwoven textiles and apparel and accessories from India, with a passion for building the complete architecture of collections through to implementing merchandise plans for the brands.

Sourabh ensures projects have certifications, company audits and offers quality control support along with validation of goods before shipments are packed. 


EthiSource have supported multi-product retailers across all platforms, including online, retail and wholesale. Our clients have included Walt Disney, Chanel, The White Company, The Ginza Project, Pan Deï Palais, AK Associates, Lambert, Albilad, Burford Garden Company, Bordas, Alscot, The Dorset Opera Festival, Constantin Film and Winners to name just a few.
